The Best Moments from the 30th Annual Tour de Bronx Bike Ride

By
Jilleen Barrett

Over 4 thousand cycling enthusiasts from The Bronx and beyond excitedly joined us on Sunday, October 6th for the 30th Annual Tour de Bronx bike ride. We are so excited to say that the event was a huge success!

1. The pre-ride kickoff at 161st andGrand Concourse

Before the ride started, everyone gathered between 161stand 164th Streets on The Grand Concourse. Emcee Amadeus and DJ MariD took the stage to play music and hype up the crowd before Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson came out. Once she had the chance to thank our sponsors and wish everyone luck, the 40-mile, 25-mile and 10-mile courses took off.

 2. Passing all the amazing sights in The Bronx

As the Director of Communications for the Bronx Tourism Council, I got to see so many riders’ perspectives from the tour. Many of you posted pictures while riding past Orchard Beach, which is one of the most beautiful sights in The Bronx — plus, it was a sunny day, so it was a great time to ride past the beach.

3. The performances with Amadeus and Lulada Club atthe New York Botanical Gardens

The ride finished at the New York Botanical Garden, where everyone grabbed a bite to eat and laid out on the grass. You may have seen our photographer taking photos and our team selling t-shirts — the photos and other merchandise like t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats are still for sale!

Amadeus and Lulada Club, New York’s biggest salsa orchestra, also performed at the Gardens with DJ Spynfo deejaying in between. It was amazing to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the event with such incredible musicians.

4. When two lucky winners got free bikes

Before we wrapped up the day, two lucky people — one adultand one child — won free bikes, courtesy of Montefiore Einstein and The BronxTourism Council & Bronx Economic Development Corporation! The adult bikewas the one Amadeus rode during the tour, which he signed before giving it offto the raffle winner. Other raffle prizes included a 150 dollar gift card toShop Rite and various gift cards to Food Bazaar.

Overall, the event was a success — we hope to see you there next year!
