There’s a pizzeria on nearly every corner of New York City. That’s because there is no city that does pizza quite like New York does — so the people simply can’t get enough of it. It’s surprisingly walkable — meaning you could simultaneously run to the 4 train and eat a slice of pepperoni — and it’s a filling meal for only a few dollars. Not to mention it’s delicious.
The number of options for pizza in the city has led to many debates: which pizzeria serves the best pizza in New York? What kinds of toppings really belong on pizza? Which borough has the best pizzerias, overall?
The New York Times sought to resolve aspects of these debates by publishing an article titled “The 25 Best Pizza Places in New York Right Now.” They visited 50 of the most loved pizzerias and ranked the top 25, with some of the fan favorites not making the list and other hidden gems being reviewed quite highly.
Two pizzerias in The Bronx made the list: Emilio’s of Morris Park and Louie & Ernie’s Pizza.
The reporters who visited recommend the chicken vodka pizza from Emilio’s, citing that it was impressive that the crust held up under the sauce. The restaurant serves more than just pizza but is particularly well-known for that vodka chicken slice. Emilio’s is located at 1051 Morris Park Ave.
At Louie & Ernie’s, the review mentioned the margherita pizza and sausage pizza. This pizzeria dates back a few decades, so they have a well-established reputation for good pizza in The Bronx — it’s no surprise they made this list. Located at 1300 Crosby Ave in the Country Club area, they only accept cash, so hit the ATM before you visit.
