Bronx Bakeries to Order Fresh-Baked Goods Ahead of the Holidays

Holiday season is approaching quickly, and it’s time for Bronxites to start thinking about where to order desserts, breads and other baked goods. Food is one of the most important parts of any celebration — especially at this time of year — and lucky for anyone living local to The Bronx, this is one of the best places in the world to get delicious food. And that’s not an exaggeration — New York City is home to many different sources of authentic cuisine with recipes passed down generations. For example, with Arthur Avenue being in our borough, we get to easily access the finest Italian baked goods.

All the bakeries below are highly revered by locals and offer a way of reserving baked goods in advance of any holiday.

Lloyd’s Carrot Cake

Lloyd’s Carrot Cake is famous amongst Bronxites. Known for its carrot cake, the bakery is particularly busy around Thanksgiving, with the line sometimes being down the block in the days before the holiday. If you are hoping to serve their cakes or cupcakes during the holiday season, the best way to make sure you get one is by ordering ahead.

You can order one of their carrot cakes or any of their other types of cakes (including German chocolate, red velvet, and more) for pickup (minimum two days in advance) using this order form on their website.

If you are looking to have their cakes or cupcakes delivered, you can order via Uber Eats or Goldbelly on the Lloyd’s Carrot Cake website.

Madonia Bakery

Madonia Bakery on Arthur Avenue has a long history in The Bronx. This Italian bakery was established over one hundred years ago and has been passed down through multiple generations of the Madonia family.

This bakery serves breads, cookies, biscotti, cannoli and more. This is the perfect place to reserve some breakfast and smaller dessert options. Madonia is willing to reserve items a few days in advance, but for larger parties, they have a catering form.

S&S Cheesecake

S&S Cheesecake offers New York style, Kosher cheesecake. While they may be pricey, these cheesecakes are beloved by Bronxites. Some people even travel to The Bronx specifically to get their hands on one of their cheesecakes!

But luckily, you don’t need to travel to order from them, because they are able to ship their cakes. All you have to do is visit their website, select the cakes you want and add them to your cart. Read more about their shipping policy here.

If you live close, you can call S&S Cheesecake one day in advance and reserve a cake for pickup.

Artuso Pastry Shop

Artuso Pastry Shop, also on Arthur Avenue, is another great bakery to order from if you are looking for smaller dessert items, such as cookie platters or cannoli. Their rainbow cookies come recommended from Bronx Tourism Council staff; they also sell favorites such as pignoli cookies and biscotti. Check out their website to find their local and national delivery forms, which have a pickup option as well.
